One thing is bothering me, and maybe someone from the staff can shed some light over this Knowing the meta information is stored in the library folder, including links between assets / prefabs. It's not Unity's responsibility to support/document automated backup solutions, including the rules YOU set.

Same here, just zip the entire project (once Unity Editor is closed, so you don't add the "Temp" folder). I'm screwed if I can't back up my Unity projects. What's going on? Can I not backup my Unity projects like everything else? Is there some special way I need to do backups? Is there any way to restore everything without starting over? This is a SERIOUS issue. Never had a problem with backup files made this way before. I'm using a program called ChronoSync that just copies selected folders to a network drive every night. Same thing happens with another project from my backup disk.įWIW, I'm NOT using Time Machine for my backups. Same thing happens if I drag the scene onto the Unity iPhone icon in my doc, or if I open it via Unity's file menu. This will take me days just to put everything back together and get it working again. I am basically left with a collection of assets that I need to start over from scratch with. All the prefab connections are broken, all the scripts are missing, all the textures and meshes are missing. So I copied my project folder over from my backup drive and now everything is gone. No problem, I have my backup that was made over night. I inadvertently deleted some files and saved my project before I realized it. I posted this in another forum and then realized this was probably a better place for it.
